Graham was an evacuee from Coventry during the Second World War. As the bombs reigned down on
Coventry, his family decided Graham and his brother Brian would be safer going to stay with their Aunt
Lydia in Grantham for a while, to give them a break from the German bombs. They travelled by bus,
changing at Leicester station, along with their mother. As they arrived in the supposed safety of the
town, they witnessed a daylight raid on the train station. They were able to take shelter under a nearby
railway bridge. Grahams life story was taken from the BBC - WW2 People's War archive.
