Leicestershire . He fought in the Burma and India during the war, and was
a Chindit. The Chindits, were an Allied special forces group, ofcially titled
Long Range Penetration Groups, made up of units of the British and Indian
armies which saw action in 1943–1944 during the Burma Campaign of
World War II. George died India, possibly during the re-training to become
an airborne force as by this point the Chindits had been decimated by the
terrible ghting in Burma.
He is buried at Gauhati War Cemetery which was largely comprised of
casulties from local hospitals. Little is known about George’s life or the
