Life Story
Kay left school and started working in a dressmakers. At the outbreak of
war and aged just 18, Kay left her job as a dressmaker and joined the
WAAF. This was as the intense bombing raids on London and other cities
known as the Blitz started, and Kay was put on ambulance duty, with the
harsh responsibility of rushing those injured in the bombings to hospital.
