Edward was the son of of Joseph and Sarah Ann Rawden of Commonside in Old Leake, Lincolnshire.

He was bornin in Ancaster and initially enlisted with the Lincolnshire Regiment in Sleaford at the

beginning of the war, before transferring to the Royal Lancaster Regiment. He was killed in action on

3rd May 1917 and has no known grave. He is commemorated in the Arras Memorial.
