David was the some and John and Annie Winter who resided at Ermine Terrace in Ancaster which is

where David enlisted for military service with the Lincolnshire Regiment, like many men from the

village. He was killed near Hautmont in the last fighting of the war. This area was taken by the

Germans at the beginning of the war and was held until it was taken on the 8th November 1918.
