Charles was the son of (the late) Mr R Walton and Eliza Marshall (formerly Walton) of Wilsford Lane,
Ancaster, Lincs. He was born in Sudbrooke before going on to live in nearby Ancaster and enlisted into
military service at Bourne. Charles was killed in the Ypres area in June 1915, likely in the aftermath of
the Second Battle of Ypres, the first mass use of gas on the Western Front but the Germans. He has
no known grave and is commemorated YPRES (Menin Gate) MEMORIAL. Panel 21. His brother
Thomas Richard Walton also served and was killed in action almost a year later in July 1916.
