Arthur's family came from Warrington in Lancashire where he was born. He enlisted with the

Lincolnshire Regiment, signing up in Grantham as he lived in the nearby village of Woolsthorpe. He

was killed in action on 15th May 1917 and has no known grave. He is commemorated in the Arras

Memorial.
