William was born in Morpeth in Northumberland and enlisted with the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was

a patient at Wicklow Lodge Military Hospital in Melton Mowbray where he died of pneumonia in on 3rd

February 1917. He was the second person to have died at the hospital after it opened to patients in
