Private Kaye was sent out to France in the early days of the war, one of the Old Contemptibles as the

Kaiser referred to them. He was wounded (he was shot in the leg) in late December 2014 and

invalided back to England. After a very long train journey, he arrived in Melton Mowbray as one of the

first patients at the Wicklow Lodge military hospital, arriving on the 2nd January 1915.
