Arthur was born in Bradford but moved to Melton Mowbray when his father, George Edward

Pennington, found work as Mill hand. Prior to enlisting, Arthur worked as a moulders apprentice at

Holwell Works. He was killed in France aged 22, and is buried at Mill Road Cemetery
